My mother taught me to sew when I was a girl, and I was showing my daughter a small doll blanket that I had embroidered. She was interested in trying it, so I drew a pattern on a piece of cloth using pencil crayons. I used the corresponding colour for each line of the rainbow, and also made little ticks where she could space the stitches. This proved to be a success! She made this rainbow in a few hours. She was excited as she progressed that she no longer needed to flip the hoop back and forth to see what she was doing.
She said when she gets better, she’d like to try a bird. I’m glad she accepted this rainbow as a beginner pattern, rather than her first request of herself riding a pony.

Thanks for visiting the blog, jody. It was fun seeing her take to it so quickly. Now just need to think of another pattern.
