Altered canvas

As usual, it would seem, the changing of the seasons brought with it my desire to paint. You will not recognize this painting, although looking back over this blog, I think it is the last painting I worked on, almost four months ago!

Probably the only remaining element visible from the earlier version is the bar of musical notes at the bottom right, which you can see in this detail:

I reverted to my old ways, with lots of scribbling, mark making, collage of old things and texture.

I’ve been hoping to use that piece of cardboard with the holes for years. It is hard to see in the photo, but I echoed the shape throughout the painting, and in the sky. Actually I think I will have to retouch the sky as some of my work got smeared when I was putting a gel over it.

Yes, I made this picture with a plastic fork, among other things.

The cat was a steady studio companion.
