We weren't sure if we'd have views or a sunset. Th We weren't sure if we'd have views or a sunset. The views ended up being so clear, plus a full moonrise. Mt. Baker looked so serene in a new coat of snow, hovering in a pastel sky.
These pictures show some issue the beautiful lands These pictures show some issue the beautiful landscapes as we hiked up to Hat Mountain, traversing Fat Ass Peak. You can see all three peaks in the first photo (descending Hat, the bump ahead is Fat Ass Peak, and Brunswick looms behind). Me summiting Hat after a long climb. Almost up Hat Mountain. There was a little easy scrambling/bushwacking Brunswick Lake Cool mushroom The first part of the trail goes almost all the way to Tunnel Bluff before going up. Nice lush trail! We veered away from the prime autumn hikes and rev We veered away from the prime autumn hikes and revisited Mt. Brunswick, such a classic. We added a loop around by way of Hat Mountain and Fat Ass Peak, two new peaks for me. The rolling mist dissipated and we had clear views. The harvest moon rise, and Mt. Baker was floating on a pastel sky. This was my fourth time in Brunswick, and each time was a different route: Brunswick-Harvey, Brunswick as part of the Howe Sound Crest Trail traverse, and Brunswick with Tunnel Bluff.
It's funny how it's not possible to capture the he It's funny how it's not possible to capture the hectic moments that go wrong in these posts: there were lots of them! I always am drawn to see the beauty around me anyway. I was so grateful for this whirlwind stop on the island.
