I delight in collecting leaves, and remembered how much the name of this blog still resonates with me, and sums up the way I experience the creative life.<\/p>\n<p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m inspired by leaves; like snowflakes, every leaf is different. I love looking at them, comparing the different patterns. After the luscious perfection of early spring, the leaves\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 short lives are marred by insects or disease. But like millions of fresh canvases, each year the results are spectacular.<\/p>\n<p>When I re-branded my blog a few years ago, I tried to combine my love of nature and art in the name \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Delight-filled leaves.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d This name is a play on the first line of this 1979 Wendell Berry poem:<\/p>\n<p>To sit and look at light-filled leaves<br \/>\nMay let us see, or seem to see,<br \/>\nFar backward and through clearer eyes<br \/>\nTo what unsighted hope believes:<br \/>\nThe blessed conviviality<br \/>\nThat sang Creation\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s seventh sunrise.<\/p>\n<p>Time when the Maker\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s radiant sight<br \/>\nMade radiant every thing He saw,<br \/>\nAnd every thing He saw was filled<br \/>\nWith perfect joy and life and light.<br \/>\nHis perfect pleasure was sole law;<br \/>\nNo pleasure had become self-willed.<\/p>\n<p>For all His creatures were His pleasures<br \/>\nAnd their whole pleasure was to be<br \/>\nWhat He made them; they sought no gain<br \/>\nOr growth beyond their proper measures,<br \/>\nNor longed for change or novelty.<br \/>\nThe only new thing could be pain.<\/p>\n<p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m kind of shamelessly geeky on this point \u00e2\u20ac\u201c I love nature!
