{"id":1826,"date":"2014-04-06T11:12:12","date_gmt":"2014-04-06T18:12:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/delightfilledart.wordpress.com\/?p=1826"},"modified":"2016-01-23T10:19:41","modified_gmt":"2016-01-23T18:19:41","slug":"string-painting-at-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nancyduckhildebrand.com\/?p=1826","title":{"rendered":"String painting at school"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week, I had the opportunity to help lead the <a title=\"Kids paint with string\" href=\"http:\/\/delightfilledart.wordpress.com\/2014\/03\/09\/kids-paint-with-string\/\">string painting\u00c2\u00a0<\/a> project in my daughter\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Gr. 1 &amp; 2 French Immersion class. The teacher was able to find everything we needed in the art supply room. We used an almost-empty bottle of black acrylic paint, which I watered down and shook up. We gave each student a small dixie cup of the paint, a string, and a paint brush. My four-year-old came along, and he eagerly helped wash all the paintbrushes while the class waited on the carpet for the paint to dry (they did show-and-tell in the meantime).<\/p>\n<p>The kids had to go run around the school a few times to collect themselves, and came back in eager to add colour to their creations. The paint available was tempera cake paint, which created very vibrant colours. The teacher and I found ourselves running a bucket brigade, though, replacing the students\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 water as it became muddy.<\/p>\n<p>Look at the beautiful variety of paintings the kids came up with, even though they didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have tons of time (there was even a fire drill during the time we intended to start!). This was the biggest group I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve ever led an art project with; I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m quite used to managing my own two kids.
